Would you give a stranger access to your bank account or social media account? No? How about access to your home wifi, personal computer, phone, or security cameras? Of course not! This is a no brainer!
But, without strong passwords and thoughtful password handling you are inviting and sharing your accounts and devices with strangers.
Tips for safer passwords and accounts:
- don’t share accounts with friends or family
- use strong passwords (8 or more characters, use symbols, numbers, mix upper and lower characters, and use nothing found in a dictionary
- use 2 factor authentication (banks, social media platforms, and email account providers all support 2FA)
- use a password safe
- use unique passwords for each site and service
